![]() Though she doesn’t let his betrayal go completely unmentioned, it seems fairly evident that Vanessa is willing to give the young man another chance as the trio moves to get as far away from Dmitri’s compound as possible. However, make no mistake, this chapter predominantly focuses on the moral redemption several characters have been chasing, and without a doubt the most heart wrenching involves Mohamad. ![]() Now that vampires have emerged from the shadows will there be more like Sheema who seek to coexist and willingly join their ranks? We don’t know how Rebecca manipulated Dylan after turning her, but it does appear she was grooming her in her own image at least visually. Sheema can’t be alone in her attraction to the allure of what Dmitri, Rebecca, and Anastasia have to offer, and it may well be more than the perceived safety and comforts they provide. We know there are humans that don’t view vampires solely with fear and revulsion. While there’s no question as to the sexual implications here and the tub’s restorative power, the scene also signals the bloodbath that awaits vampire and human alike. While Rebecca certainly exudes sensuality whenever she’s on screen, tonight this dark side appears much more overtly, and we’re reminded of the seductive and attractive pull vampire life can exert. Dropping her flimsy robe, we’re reminded that there may be more to these beings than meets the eye as the two plot their next move. As blood runs through The Citadel, we finally see the provocative sexuality inherent in the vampire mythos when Anastasia (Gia Crovatin) strides seductively toward Dmitri bathing in a blood filled tub. Unfortunately, Van Helsing never makes things easy for mankind’s savior.įrom the beginning Van Helsing has left behind many of the expected trappings found in vampire tales, but from the opening scene of “In Redemption,” a subtle shift in tone takes place. Now that Vanessa has left The Citadel with her daughter, perhaps she’ll be able to begin the healing process that both so badly need. Van Helsing Season 2 Episode 2Īristotle said, “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light,” and there’s something about walking in the light of day that helps more clearly define a situation. Yeah this is bad. This Van Helsing review contains spoilers. The final straw was the grizzled marine who survived 3 years in almost complete isolation yelling out in fury "SHUT THE FRICK UP". The scenario seems to have some potential but we are forced to slog behind infuriating characters that refuse to observe anything around them and act with no consistency or agency. The set design is poor, I laughed out loud at some absurdities like wet glossy blood on a baby carrier that's supposed to have been ravaged at least 3 years prior, or a seemingly never-ending supply of bullets and smokes that we're supposed to believe were in short supply months before the story kicks off. The constant fades between scenes with abruptly chopped stock music, make it look like someone just edited this in Windows Movie Maker. ![]() The premise seemed like something I'd love, and there's something there but I couldn't bring myself to go past Season 1 Episode 3, and frankly I'm shocked to read how people say this is when the show was good. 3 Failed attempts at building some structure and now utterly killed it with the "elders" and the "Van Helsing", like come on! I hope to all vampires that it picks up quickly because even I am running out of patience here, I'd rather stare at a blank wall than see another cliche plot twist and lazy writing! From one cliche plot twist to another, I am yet to see anything that is worth this series, that makes this series its own unique story and seriously 2 seasons and you don't know anything about this world, except that it is "infested with vampires" and everyone is just running around like a maniac. Visuals aren't at all what you'd hope for in this day and age, it's NOTHING like the movie, the writing is sloppy to say the least and down right stupid at its worst, like characters suddently know things they shouldn't know just because they wanted to go on with the story, which I find unacceptable to be honest. Every single classical plot twist, literally one after another after another, it's like watching Dynasty with Vampires. I've watched 2 seasons, I don't know why I still bother at this point. ![]()
